The business of life seems to have little to do with the fancy that our childhood allowed us. Soon, he must rely on his newfound powers to protect the world from a shadowy organisation looking for a symbiote of their own. This associative activity is the opposite of that which is at work in the scientific method, which dismantles things to get at the the truth of the matter. On Sunday 28 July 2019, David Randall celebrated his 600th show. “Assume The Position” started in June 2007 on UK City Radio before transferring a year later to Get Ready to ROCK! Radio. These are matters Howard uses constantly throughout the book, and you’ll want to note well what he means by them. As they stand its stupid because there’s no blood or gore and I’m pretty sure onlookers would be more horrified (the Asian shopkeeper at the end much?). It is a thing in itself, one of the great gifts to humankind, as any paraplegic would tell us. CHAPTER TWO: OF DISHRAGS AND BORZOIS Imagination is at work at every moment of our lives, shaping every thought we have. But from two people facing each other, this common stuff, there arises all the motions and energies that mark human existence and that move history. And yet there is a lot on this album that’s primal and powerful. “ Hurry On Home ” is a colossal driving groove, its stacked and multi-tracked harmonies adding to Brownstein’s body-disconnection freakout. “Restless,” the one track on the album that might’ve fit on a past Sleater-Kinney album, has the chilly grace of ’90s college rock. “Bad Dance” recalls the sticky, sweaty cocaine music of early-’00s warehouse parties. Some songs sound like hyper-charged end-credits music for Netflix romantic comedies that take place during the apocalypse. Lyrically it’s kind of blue but it’s well written and does show off Dan’s skill at crafting words together.
